Finding Subject Recruitment Methods in Clinical Dental Hygiene Practice

Abstract
The aim of this study was to search an appropriate recruitment method of client for a clinical dental hygiene practice in dental hygiene curriculum. First, we evaluated promotion effects between online and offline method for client recruitment for 7,950 students attended in a university. Second, we investigated opinion of the university students on participation in oral health promotion (OHP) program using convenient sampling (N=139). Chi-square test, independent t-test were conducted using SPSS statistical program version 20.0. The promotion effects were higher in online method then that in offline method. 38.4% of subjects hesitated participating in the OHP program because of lack of time (51.8%), and lack of interest (22.8%). On the other hand, 61.6% of subjects who hoped for participation reported that the reason because of a keen of interest (36%), and free of charge (36%). In conclusions, online promotion method was appropriated for recruiting university students. And it was needed to enhance student¡¯s recognition on oral hygiene care and conduct dental hygiene care considering personal time for increasing recruitment.
